How to Setup Squarespace Product Add-Ons

The most important thing for an online business is selling products and the more sales the better, right?

Squarespace’s e-commerce functionality is enhanced with Product Add-ons which help promote additional products from your shop for the purposes of upselling. With this feature you can strategically bundle related products, accessories, or complementary items with the main product.

This not only encourages customers to explore additional offerings but could also increase sales.

We used this feature on the website we designed for Love and Light Napa Valley, adding their various accessories to their main candle products as upsells. The screenshot shows one of their candles with matches as Product Add-ons.

To sell an add-on product with another product:

  1. Create the product(s) that will adding on as upsells to other products.

  2. Open the product editor of the main product.

  3. Under the “Selling Tools” section, find “Product Add-ons”.

  4. Click add.

  5. Select the products to upsell with your main product.

  6. Click “Apply”.

  7. Repeat these steps for each product you'd like to add an add-on to.

To remove an add-on product or to change the add-ons that you sell with a product:

  1. Open the product editor of the main product you've added the add-on product to.

  2. Under the “Selling Tools” section, find “Product Add-ons”.

  3. Click Edit.

  4. To change the products that displays as add-ons, select another product. To remove the add-on product, unselect the product.

  5. Click “Apply”.

There are some caveats to how the Squarespace Product Add-ons work:

  • Product Add-ons are only supported on digital, physical, and service products.

  • The add-on product must be a digital, physical, or service product.

  • Each product can display a maximum of two add-on products.

  • The add-on product's visibility must be set to “public”.

  • Products with variants aren't available as add-ons.

  • Shoppers can add the add-on product to their carts without adding the main product.

  • Disabling the store page that lists the add-on product prevents customers from purchasing that add-on product.
