How to Add a Blog Sidebar

Is your blog sidebar working for you? Or is it just taking up space? Depending on the content width that you’ve chosen for your blogs there may be wasted space on the side of your blog on desktop or below the blog on mobile that could be used to promote offers, services, other blog posts or for image placements to give your blog posts the wow factor.

If you check out each of our blog posts you’ll notice that there is a box with content on each post. Our content and images are consistently displayed on every post, without having to manually add this block to every post and worry about formatting and alignment.

How did we do it?

We used the Sidebar Plugin from SQSP Themes (you’ll see them on our “Resources” page they are a trusted and frequently used part of our Squarespace website design toolkit). We’ve used their plugins on many of our client websites and couldn’t resist using the Sidebar Plugin on our own Squarespace website.

The opportunities for the sidebar are endless, and the bonus is that changing the content is easily done and provides a refresh for your blog posts anytime you update your sidebar content. You simply update the main content for the sidebar and it pushes to each blog post automatically. We love a “one and done” type change - make the change in one place and have it show up on all blog posts.

You can purchase the SQSP Themes Sidebar Plugin here —>.

When you purchase the Sidebar Plugin you receive step-by-step instructions for installing the plugin. If you need help with the installation, get in touch and we will provide you with a quote to install the plug-in on your site.
